Elephant Back Safaris
Kwa Madwala has been working hard to secure approval for the operation of elephant-back safaris from January 2006. With approval now in place, import licenses are being sought to transfer a previously domesticated herd of African elephants to Kwa Madwala. These elephants originate from Zimbabwe and were originally saved from a culling operation. Due to the tourism situation in Zimbabwe, they are not able to sustain themselves, and it is hoped that they can be saved by moving them south and putting them back to work in a safe environment. Once domesticated, the African elephant cannot return to the wild and needs constant care, which Kwa Madwala can provide.

Microlight Safaris
Have you ever watched a bird soaring over the bush and wondered what the view would be like? At Kwa Madwala, we make this a reality with our microlight safaris. Owner Conrad van Eyssen is as passionate about flying as he is about the African bush, and often flies guests himself. With two microlights on the property, taking off from either of the two runways, Kwa Madwala is, we believe, the only game reserve in Africa to offer this amazing aerial-safari experience. According to Conrad, the advantages of the microlight are its ability to get really low and its maneuverability, so that multiple flips can be made over areas of interest and the open cockpit offers panoramic visibility.
