About Kruger Park

Kruger National Park, established in 1898, offers a wildlife experience that ranks among the best to be found in Africa. The park is extensive, stretching for 350 kilometres along the South Africa/Mozambique border, with an average width of 60 kilometres.

As the flagship of South Africa’s national parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. Much of its terrain consists of open grasslands and bush-covered plains – better known in South Africa as savanna and bosveld. A number of rivers flows within the park, which enjoys a warm, subtropical climate all year round. Summer (November to March) is hot with rain, and winter (May to August) is warm and dry with cooler, sometimes chilly, evenings.
