Activities at Mankwe Bush Lodge
Mankwe Bush Lodge is very much an activity-based location. Positioned on a private concession open to the border of the famous Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana, one of its biggest attractions is really its huge display of mammals. It is not uncommon to see various types of mammals together in one area when going on your game drive. Other must-do activities include guided bush walks and night drives in the concession. There is also a waterhole near the lodge that has a hidden game-viewing platform from which a variety of wildlife may be seen. For an experience, one can go on an overnight trip into the Okavango delta on a mokoro and stay on Mbomo Island. |

Night Drives
With the aid of an experienced guide you will be driven through the local concession area. You might need to wait a while, but there is always a chance you will see leopard and hyena, as this is the time of day when they are most active.
The night drive should be booked with your guide who will come around to your site everyday (night drives and bush walks can’t be done on your own for safety reasons).

Bush Walks
With the aid of an experienced guide you will be taken on a walking safari through the local mopani bush – the trademark of the Botswana landscape. Remember to stay close to your guide because there is always a chance you will bump into rhino and other game animals…
A bush walk should be booked with your guide (never embark on a walking safari on your own), whose extensive knowledge of the area will enhance this intimate wilderness experience.

Game Drives
The game drive through to the Kwai River on the northern border of the Moremi Game Reserve is a whole-day event. You will leave first thing in the morning after a wholesome breakfast, for an action-packed drive along the banks of the river. One of the spectacular aspects of the Kwai is the tendency for hippos to come out of the water during the day. This is not common behaviour for these animals and is always a treat. This is certainly one of the more breathtaking game drives to be had, but should be booked a day in advance.

Flights
One of the most amazing ways to see the Okavango delta is by air. In a light aircraft you are able to get close to ground level and will actually see the different wild animals wading in the delta below.
Have a look at our package section where these scenic flights are included in the Mbomo package.
