African Luxury Hideaways was started by brothers Andrew and Garth Jenman of Jenman African Safaris. Jenman African Safaris has established itself as one of the leading safari tour operators in southern Africa. Its focus on customer needs and offering tailor-made travel to international markets inspired us to develop a product range that meets all the needs of our clients. For this reason we established African Luxury Hideaways. Africa Luxury Hideaways is a portfolio of medium-to-up-market lodges located in southern Africa. All our lodges are privately owned with no more than ten chalets each, and their unique settings offer unforgettable African adventures. With our experience in tailor-made African travel and our established relationships throughout this region, our new portfolio not only brings you a classic collection of wild African lodges, but also our professional expertise in ensuring that you have the best African safari experience at the right lodge and, most importantly, the best rates on offer.

Ecotourism and sustainability
Some of our lodges actively sponsor a local community resource committee, which has now trained 12 villagers in anti-poaching and is busy educating the local community about the benefits of conserving wildlife.
In addition to many energy-saving initiatives, one of our lodges has also purchased industrial-grade woodworking machinery and trained a number of would-be carpenters in its use. All of the furniture and fittings, including the doors, windows and decking at Zambelozi Island Lodge have been made by tribal people whose pastimes include herding cattle or piloting mokoros. This project aims to encourage more value-added wooden products being made in the region, which hopefully offers a sustainable solution to the problem of deforestation.
Many local people have also been trained as rangers, thereby giving them marketable skills with which to proceed in life as well as offering you, as our guests, their expert knowledge of the region you are visiting.
